Pixels x Pens Newsletter #1

Hey, what's good? Thank you for sharing your email with me and for being one of the founding members of Pixels x Pens.  Times have changed, and I'm doing my best to keep up with how people consume content in the age of algorithms.  So, before we get into the newsletter, let's talk about Pixels x Pens. Posts will be live in two places - your email inbox and the blog.  To keep your inbox clutter-free, I'll send out newsletters once or twice a week. The newsletters will contain curated content from around the web - personal recommendations of things I think you should read, listen to, or watch. There will be some posts that'll be published directly to the blog, mostly long-form content, and I'll make sure to notify you when they're available.

Most importantly, I want your feedback! I'll be tailoring the site based on community feedback, so if you'd like to see more of a specific type of content, let me know! Now that we've got that out of the way, let's get to the good stuff!

This Is Business Eddie!

I've spent a considerable amount of money on education throughout my life, but I still can't stop learning new things, especially when it comes to business. There are two YouTube channels that I recommend you check out. The first is "Good Work" - a comedic take on the old-school 60 Minutes features.  I'll drop a video below.

The second channel, Modern MBA, is a collection of video essays about various business industries and companies. Great to have on in the background or if you're in the mood to learn why industries like Esports failed.

The Clipse Dropped!

The Clipse album dropped on 7/11, and the Uncs have collectively lost their shit. And we have good reason, The Clipse were the soundtrack to many a summer, and for most fans, it marks some of Pharrell's best work.  It's dope and worth a listen.

And while we're on the subject of Coke rap, I'm going to slide Freddie Gibbs' latest album, You Only Die 1nce. A solid album from start to finish, and worth your time if you haven't listened to a Gibbs project in a while.

Is Private Equity The Devil

I'm currently reading the book "Plunder: Private Equity's Plan to Pillage America," and we are fucked. Well, at least that's how it's looking sixty pages in. If you've ever wondered what private equity is, this book provides an easy-to-follow explanation and examples of how private equity's business model can be detrimental to businesses.
