Pixels x Pens Newsletter - Long Live Mr Robot! And More

This week we're talking tv, music and books. So let's get into it!

Long Live Mr. Robot

Mr. Robot might be one of the greatest shows ever made. It's a series that starts with a simple premise - a group of hackers sticking it to the man, but evolves into a larger tale of revenge, regret, and utter chaos. If you watched Westworld (spoilers ahead), remember the moment when Jeffrey Wright's character found out he was an android? How wild that moment was! Imagine a bunch of those moments scattered throughout four seasons.  Sam Esmail makes sure no character or moment is wasted, as it's all connected to the bigger picture, which I'm still guessing what that might be. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers or a tech enthusiast, this show is for you. For those in tech, there's an added bonus- the creator made sure the hacking and social engineering were as accurate as possible, so you won't see someone failing at the keyboard and magically hacking corporate systems. Each hack requires planning and multiple steps, and there's always a risk of getting caught. If you're a Netflix subscriber or still sharing a password, be sure to check this out. I promise you won't regret it.

Alfredo 2

Freddie's done it again. Over the weekend, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist dropped the sequel to Alfredo, and it's a contender for Album of the Year.  Following You Only Die 1nce,  Freddie continues to mix the coke rap with the life lessons learned over the past few years. I'll drop the album below.

Paul Wall and Dj.Fresh

DJ.Fresh brings Paul Wall to the Tonite Show series, and the collab is the perfect background for a Saturday cruise or when you need a little money motivation.  If you're familiar with The People's Champ, it's your standard affair - Mr. Wall sliding over tracks with slick wordplay about swangers, hustlin', and stacking paper.  Personal recommendation: Play Blanton's tonight or Out Yo Mind after the car wash.

New Book Alert - Character Limit, How Elon Musk Destroyed Twitter

On another episode of tech bros behaving badly, it's a deep dive into Elon's takeover and destruction of Twitter. Written by two reporters from The New York Times,  Character Limit begins with the history of Twitter and how Elon came to own the bird app. I'm in the early pages of the book, and Elon is still just a user of the platform, while Jack Dorsey is "running" Twitter, but I'm hooked. If you need something to read, check this out.
